Biography

LTC Gene Lynn Breeding US Army Retired from Falls Mills, Virginia son of Paul Breeding and Ilene Boyd Breeding Graduate of US Military Academy in 1954 and received his masters in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University. In his 20 year military career he spent three years at West Point as associate professor in electronics. He had two tour in Vietnam/ Korea and a number of other oversea duties which included NATO (AFCENT- Netherlands). He attended the Army War College At the height of his military service he was commander of the 1st Armored Calvary Reconnaissance Squadron in Vietnam 1971. He was involved in two major campaigns during the Vietnam War Lam Son 719 and Carolina Hill. He received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star for Valor during his Vietnam tour where his ACAV encounter a mine. In addition to these honors he was awarded the Legion of Merit for his career military achievements. Married to Louise Blakely Breeding three sons include Paul, Boyd, and Robert. He was a dedicate husband and father and an avid hunter, scuba driver, and banjo musician. Died on September 6 1975 from a heart attack at age 43 and is buried at Grandview Memorial Gardens Bluefield, Virginia.
