Michael Dale Andersen
Michael Andersen was born on November 1, 1948 in Lyons Kansas. He graduated from high school in 1966. Michael married Rita Brown on June 17, 1967. On February 14, 1969 he took his oath for the US Army went to basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood MO. Followed by AIT training at Ft. Lewis Washington and NCOC school at Ft. Benning Georgia. In January 1970 he went to Vietnam and served one tour in the infantry and received 2 Bronze Stars. Arrived back home on December 18, 1970. After the Army Michael was a route salesman for Pepsi-Cola out of Junction City and Rainbo Bread out of Emporia. Michael and Rita started a family in 1973 welcoming a daughter, in 1976 welcoming a son, also welcomed 4 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren. Celebrated SO years of marriage in June of 2017. He was a member of the American Legion and NRA. He went on the Honor Flight to Washington D.C. in 2015. He enjoyed wood-turning, long overdue vacations, gardening, yard work, cooking, baking plus being a husband/father/grandfather/great grandfather. He passed away on August 4, 2017 due to prostate cancer that went to his brain caused by exposure to Agent Orange during his service in Vietnam. Michael lived life to the fullest until the end and will be greatly missed by his wife, family and friends.
