Larry Steven Miles
Corporal Larry Steven Miles was born October 24, 1950 in New London, CT to Henry Miles and Ruth Bonewitz. He passed away on December 31, 2017. Larry grew up in the Groton/Ledyard area and graduated from Ledyard High School in 1968. He enjoyed all sports but especially baseball, playing on various Babe Ruth teams. He loved the Yankees, The Beatles (Ringo was his favorite), playing drums, going fishing, bowling, and golfing. He enjoyed spending time at the beach every summer with his daughter as she was growing up and looked forward to visits with his grandchildren. Larry enlisted with the United States Marine Corps and served in Vietnam from 1969 to 1970 as a radioman with the 1st Marine Division. After his service with the Marines, Larry worked as a draftsman for over 30 years with General Dynamics Electric Boat Division. He leaves behind his daughter, Lauren Lee, son-in-law Cody, and grandchildren Lorick and Jovie; brothers Terry and Gordon Ultsch, Robert Miles, and sister Laurie Miles; and several nieces and nephews. Corporal Miles will be inurned at Arlington National Cemetery on June 18, 2018.
