Robert LaVerne Aldrich
Robert L. Aldrich was born on February 22, 1948 in Auburn, New York. He grew up in Montezuma, NY and was educated in the Port Byron school system. He graduated from Port Byron High School in 1966. Bob joined the Army and began service April 19, 1967 and was deployed to Vietnam March 31, 1968, serving one year as a water purification specialist. He was assigned to the HHC 8th Engineer Battalion, 1st Air Cavalry Division. When Bob returned home he found employment at Gould Pumps in Seneca Falls, NY as a machinist. He married Rita Donselaar and they lived happily with their son, David and daughter, Molly in Savannah, NY. He coached David's little league baseball team from 1978-1980 and his basketball team from 1979·80. He also enjoyed teaching his son the ways of household maintenance and woodworking. In his spare time he enjoyed playing on a softball team with friends. Bob had a quick, dry sense of humor that always registered smiles from those around him. He passed away on April 23, 1985 due to liver cancer caused by exposure to Agent Orange during his service in Vietnam. He was 37 years old. Bob loved to laugh and shared his smile. He was a kind man, loving husband and father. He has been deeply missed, and never forgotten, by his family and friends.
