Biography

William Borowski was born on 12-2-44 in Hudson, Massachusetts. He was the middle child of Edward and Albina Borowski. He had three sisters and a brother. He attended school in Hudson and, after graduation from Hudson Catholic High School, went to work for a surveying company until his enlistment in the United States Army in August of 1965. Upon Bill's return from Vietnam, he married Marilyn Benedetto, whom he had dated for 4 years. They lived in Marlboro, MA and lived happily until his death at age 56. Married for 33 years, Bill left behind his son, Michael, now from New York City, and daughter, Erica, and son-in-law Jeremy Rishel, who now reside in Maynard Massachusetts. Bill was a very proud American and Veteran. An avid outdoors-man, his first love was hunting. He was very proud of his gun collection and hunted with rifles, muzzle loaders, and bow & arrows. To the envy of his friends, Bill always had successful hunts. He was involved in skeet shooting for many years. He also fished, trapped and loved to garden. With vegetables or flowers, he had a green thumb. His tomato plants looked like tomato trees! In his spare time Bill added new rooms to our home, built furniture and could fix anything around the house in need of fixing. One of his greatest treasures was his Harley Davidson Motorcycle, which he loved to ride. He worked in construction for 30 years. He worked for the last 10 years of his life as an engineer for the Town of Hudson, Massachusetts. He did not keep in touch with his buddies after he left Vietnam; although, he often wondered where they were, or what and how they were doing. He often spoke of one, Leon McKee from TN, as they had planned to meet when they returned to the States. The reunion never took place, perhaps something for the later life he was to be denied. One of the most memorable events of his life was the day he visited The Vietnam Memorial Wall in D.C. After spending 5 hours at The Wall finding his friends who did not come back, Bill said he could "finally put his friends to rest." It was truly such a moving and healing experience for him. Bill never once complained about his time in Vietnam, nor the fact that his extremely rare type of Liver Cancer was caused during his time there. He was very courageous as his time came near because of this mysterious illness. His courage and concern for his family and friends who loved him so dearly held us up through his trying ordeal and his short, final months.
