Missing member of class of '59
Posted for: ROYAL GEORGE ISAACS JR:
Royal George Isaacs was in my class at Harding High School in Oklahoma City. I recall George telling me how an Indian ancestor rubbed the pulp of a plant on one of his temples that had been scarred with forcips during his birth. That side healed, the other remained badly scarred. He said he also had healing powers and he rubbed a large wart on my hand with some herbs and it did in fact disappear.
George was a very friendly fellow who had moved to Oklahoma City and to our district about the ninth grade. He was in our class for about two years and until several of us heard of his death in Viet Nam, we had lost contact with him. He was one of the earliest casualties in the war.
The graduating class of Harding High School 1959 will hold its 40th reunion on September 24 & 25, 1999, at the Hilton Northwest in Oklahoma City, OK. George is listed on the roll of those deceased classmates. I would hope that we honor his memory and his sacrifice.
