He was a friend
Posted for: ANTHONY PETER SAWICKI:
I met Tony on the Wildwood boardwalk in 1963, and we became friends. He was a passionate but innocent guy. He enlisted immediately after graduating from high school. I cannot forget the shock of seeing his photo in the 'Phila Daily News' and news that he was killed by fragments from enemy mortal shell. His Mom said, 'He died a Marine and he was proud of the uniform he wore.' He was survived by his parents, Grace and Alphonse, and siblings, Mary Grace and John.
