Who was Bruce Yates?
Posted for: BRUCE EDGAR YATES:
....Even though I didn't know Lt. Bruce Yates, I can tell you a lot about him. Lt. Yates died at the age of 25. While most young men and women his age opposed the war, Bruce Yates did his duty and served his nation proudly. If he were alive today, he would be 59 years old. He probably would have a wife and several children, and perhaps a grandchild or two. He would have had the opportunity to enjoy the adventures of life, and probably would have had his share of heartache too. No, I didn't know Bruce Yates, but in a way I do know a lot about him. He wasn't a draft dodger, nor was he a campus protester. He was a young man who did his duty, and paid the ultimate price. To you Lt. Yates, and the thousands of others like you who died in Viet Nam, I salute your memory sir, and thank you for your sacrifice.
