Your Last Step
Posted for: DENNIS RAY KINNARD:
My dear LT. Your story is in my heart forever. I saw your picture today. I got your name from a Nam Vet who is doing research on D Battery 2/320th Artillery.

I have lived 37 years with the memory of what happened that day, never knowing your name till now. I saw you take your last step on this earth Sir. You got off the chopper (CH47) and started walking across the fire base into an area that had not yet been cleared. As I looked up from filling sand bags, I saw that you were in a restricted area, you took one more step, then, BOOM. I am near tears now as I tell your story Sir. I saw you as you went into peaces, part of you landed on me and my gun mates.

I am sorry that you lost your life so very young and I can never forget you Sir and what happened that day in June of 1968 on FSB Bartlett... Now I can find you on the wall...

REST IN PEACE MY DEAR LT. KINNARD. YOU SERVED YOUR COUNTRY WELL... ALL GAVE SOME, SOME GAVE ALL...
