A LIFE CUT SHORT
Posted for: PHILLIP GUZMAN JR:
I'm Ray, Phillip's second cousin still living in the Los Angeles area. I was about thirteen when Phillip lost his life serving our country in 1969. He had been a very shy young man who had just begun to come out from his shell. Before he shipped we had played pool and hung out and he seemed so excited and full of life. He was planning on returning to marry his sweetheart and start a family. It all happened so quickly and I remember the shock like it was yesterday. He was just gone for a couple of weeks when we heard the bad news. The war had finally come to our family and we realized the pain it was causing all across our country. We were all very close to his family and felt such a big loss. He adored his family and especially his mother. She of course was torn apart and never fully recovered from the pain. His mother just recently passed on and is finally with her beloved son. I was at her funeral also and through the pain of her loss could see the happiness they were now sharing together. May you rest in peace Phillip and Carmen and I look forward to seeing you someday again.
