JOIN US FOR MEMORIAL DAY AT THE WALL

The Memorial Day Observance takes place at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on Monday, May 27th at 1:00 pm.  

You must RSVP so we can ensure there will be enough seating.  Groups of ten (10) or more will have specific sections to sit in.   

The deadline for reservations is May 10, 2013. If you have questions or need to cancel your RSVP, please email us at rsvp@vvmf.org.

MEMORIAL DAY EVENT SPEAKERS

LOU DIAMOND PHILLIPS
SPECIAL MASTER OF CEREMONIES
The son of a Navy officer, Phillips was born at Subic Bay U.S. Naval Station in the Philippines. Phillips is a longtime supporter of our nation's Armed Forces. He has participated in many USO-Metro celebrity handshake tours at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center to visit our wounded, ill and injured troops. He has welcomed wounded warriors on set during the taping of Military Channel's series "An Officer and a Movie", and most recently, Phillips served as the celebrity guest at USO-Metro's Salute to Military Chefs dinner, where he shared his passion for cooking.

General John H. Tilelli

GENERAL JOHN H. TILELLI, JR., USA (RET.)
General Tilelli served two tours in Vietnam, four in Germany and three in the Pentagon. His combat tours include assignments as a company commander in Vietnam and as commander of the 1st Cavalry Division during the 1991 Gulf War.

Gen. Tilelli is currently the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Cypress International Inc. in Alexandria, Virginia.


Jim Marshall

JIM MARSHALL

Congressman Jim Marshall (2003–2011) is a former law professor, member of the U.S. Army Ranger Hall of Fame, and former mayor of Macon, Georgia.  After the Tet Offensive in 1968, Jim withdrew from Princeton University to volunteer for infantry combat in Vietnam, where he served as an Airborne Ranger reconnaissance platoon sergeant. He has received numerous military awards and recognitions, including the Purple Heart and induction into the U.S. Army Ranger Hall of Fame.
 
He is currently the President of the United States Peace Institute in Washington, D.C.

Col Lawrence Wilkerson

COL. LAWRENCE WILKERSON
Col. Wilkerson's last positions in government were as Secretary of State Colin Powell's Chief of Staff , Associate Director of the State Department's Policy Planning staff, and member of that staff responsible for East Asia and the Pacific, political-military and legislative affairs. Before serving at the State Department, Wilkerson served 31 years in the U.S. Army. During that time, he was a member of the faculty of the U.S. Naval War College, Special Assistant to General Powell when he was Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Director and Deputy Director of the U.S. Marine Corps War College at Quantico, Virginia.


Alan Buckelew

ALAN BUCKELEW
Alan Buckelew has served as chief executive officer of Princess Cruises since 2007 and as the line’s president since 2004. Buckelew is responsible for all aspects of Princess’ cruises and tour business worldwide.

 
Buckelew served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam from June 1969 until June 1970 as part of a recon platoon that operated in the Central Highlands of Vietnam.

Major General Janet Cobb

MAJOR GENERAL JANET COBB
Major General Cobb enlisted in the Army in 1974 and throughout her career, she has served in operational assignments in Europe, Southwest Asia and the United States. 

 
Major General Cobb’s awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation, Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, and the Army Achievement Medal.

ROCKIE LYNNE
Rockie Lynne is a country music singer from Statesville, N.C., and has been singing and writing songs since the age of 14. After high school, he joined the Army, where he served for three years in the 82nd Airborne at Ft. Bragg.

 
Lynne has appeared nationally on “Good Morning America,” The Grand Ole Opry “Live” and on Fox News Network’s “Fox And Friends”.  His debut single, “Lipstick,” spent an impressive 10 consecutive weeks in the #1 slot on Billboard’s Country Singles Sales chart.
