VVMF Partners with Panther Racing, Revs Up Support at Indy 500

VVMF and Panther Racing Join to Raise Awareness about The Education Center during the Indianapolis 500 on Memorial Day.

Washington, D.C. – The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (VVMF) has formed a promotional partnership with IZOD IndyCar team Panther Racing for this year’s 96th running of the Indianapolis 500. In an effort to educate and raise awareness for the VVMF, the two entities will publish a full page ad in the Indianapolis Motor Speedway race program, and air a public service announcement about the Education Center at The Wall during the May 27th ABC broadcast of the Greatest Spectacle in Racing.

Panther Racing, a two-time championship winning team in the IndyCar Series, operates the Chevrolet powered No. 4 National Guard car driven by reigning Indy 500 Rookie of the Year JR Hildebrand. The team has finished second at the Indianapolis 500 an unprecedented four years in a row and has collected a total of 28 race victories and three championship titles. Panther has been partners with the National Guard since 2008 and continues to support the men and women of the National Guard in many different ways.

Panther recently became part of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Hiring Our Heroes initiative and the White House’s Joining Forces initiative in an effort to raise awareness about the high unemployment levels amongst current National Guard soldiers, veterans and their families. At each domestic race, Panther hosts up to 50 employers from the surrounding communities, putting on a program that highlights the benefits of hiring those currently serving, veterans and their families. In addition, Panther honors a Hometown Hero, a member of that state’s National Guard, for their exemplary service and dedication to their country and community.

The Indianapolis 500 will be broadcast on ABC on May 27th with coverage beginning at 11a.m. ET, with additional coverage provided by the IMS Radio Network, XM Channel 94 and Sirius Channel 212.
