Memorial Day Observance at The Wall set for May 28

On Monday, May 28 at 1 p.m., the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (VVMF) and the National Park Service (NPS) will host the annual Memorial Day Observance at The Wall, during which changes to The Wall will be commemorated and all members of America’s armed forces who have made the ultimate sacrifice will be honored. The event is free and open to the public. 

Hal Kushner, M.D., COL (Ret.) U.S. Army will deliver the keynote remarks. His military experience includes active duty in the United States Army from 1965 to 1977, and duty as an Army reserve officer from 1977 to 1986 when he retired with the rank of Colonel. Dr. Kushner’s military awards include the Silver Star, the Soldiers’ Medal, the Bronze Star, the Air Medal, 3rd award, the Purple Heart, 3rd award, the Army Commendation Medal, and other awards and badges including the Combat Medic Badge and the Senior Flight Surgeon’s Badge.

Dr. Kushner was held as a POW in Vietnam for five and a half years. His story of survivial was featured in The Vietnam War on PBS.
