A note handwritten upon the obverse surface of the 2ndLt Pannell name rubbing identifies the donor & date of donation at The Wall and reads, "Tracy Pannell / Semper Fi / May 19, 2007". The artifacts were left at The Wall by numerous donors, including Tracy Pannell, between May - June 2007.

  • Item Summary:Five (5) Vietnam Veterans Memorial (VVM) name rubbings upon VVM Wall rubbing sheets for U.S. Marine Corps Private (PVT) Domingo Rodriguez, Jr., U.S. Marine Corps Private First Class (PFC) Richard Carrillo, U.S. Army Warrant Officer 1 (WO1) Alexander Cameron Brown, U.S. Air Force Colonel (Col) Kelly Francis Cook, & U.S. Navy Lieutenant Commander (LCDR) John Frederick Barr, respectively. Each of the name rubbings bear handwritten inscriptions professing love and appreciation from family members, friends, and former comrades, including one from LCDR Barr's son Kevin which reads, " "Dear Dad" / I may not be back here to see your name for a long time, but you will alway's [sic] be in my mind and hart [sic] as long as I live. / Love / your son". Items left at The Wall - The Virtual Collection

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial was dedicated on November 13, 1982. Shortly thereafter, visitors to the Memorial began leaving items in memoriam to those killed and missing service members listed on The Wall. These artifacts now collectively comprise the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Collection -- a museum collection of more than 400,000 items held in the public trust by the National Park Service. Today, this Collection is among the largest and most actively researched collections in the National Capital Region.

The Collection is jointly curated by National Mall and Memorial Parks and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (VVMF). The VVMF is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that relies upon public donations to continue its work, and receives no federal funding.
