Operation Frequent Wind was the last phase in the evacuation of American civilians and “at risk” Vietnamese from Saigon, and took place April 29th and April 30th, 1975. The USS Midway honored the 40th anniversary of Operation Frequent Wind on Sunday, April 26, 2015 with a midday flight deck ceremony and day-long celebration. The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (VVMF) is pleased to announce the launch of its Virtual Wall of Faces for the Australian fallen on April 25, 2015, also known as a day of remembrance for all who served and sacrificed, ANZAC Day. The Australian Wall of Faces will be an online memorial dedicated to the more than 500 Australians who made the ultimate sacrifice during the Vietnam War. MORE
In 1956, the first female service members arrived in Vietnam. 83% were nurses. Janis Nark was one of them. Nurses faced the perils of enemy fire, horrific heat and humidity, long work hours and sleepless nights. Their patients called them "angels." During Women's History Month, VVMF honors their service. The 33rd annual Memorial Day Observance at The Wall, jointly hosted by VVMF and the National Park Service, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on May 25. As part of the ceremony, the United States Postal Service will dedicate the 2015 Medal of Honor: Vietnam Forever® stamps. This year's keynote speaker will be Medal of Honor recipient Jack Jacobs. MORE
