    DEAR CORPORAL BOYER,
THANKS FOR YOUR SERVICE AS A MACHINE GUNNER. SEMPER FI. TODAY IS THE ASCENSION, AND MANY CHRISTIANS ARE IN PRAYER. MEMORIAL DAY IS APPROACHING, BUT ON ALL DAYS WE SHOULD HONOR YOU. IT HAS BEEN FAR TOO LONG FOR ALL OF YOU TO HAVE BEEN GONE. WE APPRECIATE ALL YOU HAVE DONE, AND YOUR SACRIFICE. WATCH OVER THE U.S.A., IT STILL NEEDS YOUR COURAGE. GOD BLESS YOU. MAY THE ANGELS BE AT YOUR SIDE. REST IN PEACE. YOU ARE ALL IN OUR PRAYERS.

Dear CPL Barney Evans Boyer, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

    With respect, Sir

    Curt Carter

He was a tall quiet guy with dark hair and deep voice. he appeared more mature than the rest of the boys in class. He read voraciously. we had reading book competitions as I remember and he was my competition. I read a lot of books I would have never read because of his example. this opened up my mind for more exploration. I was in Viet Nam also not on the front line so I can appreciate the effort of this man. he has already returned to us in some form or the next. I wish him peace and I hope on his journey from death to life again he finds the real'eaning of life this time. Life is wonderful as were my friends from those wonderful days for the most part at St Leo's elementary school. Hi Nancy and Hello Marcia. I wish you both well old friends.

This is Nancy Maloney and Marcia O'Reilly. We went to St Leo grammar school with Barney. This evening is May 20, 2015. Marcia and I are talking on the phone. We both still live in Oakland / Piedmont. We were reminising about St. Leo's and Barney's name came up. We were talking about how much we liked him way back then and what a kind and sensitive person he was. He always took the time to be friendly and empathic toward you. We both remembered of course that he died in 1965 which was a tragedy on so many levels. It's been so many decades and Barney is still remembered.
