  • Naperville Athlete

Ed was my cousin and I was 11 when he died. He was a tall, handsome athlete at Naperville high school and I looked up to him. He always had time to pay attention to his little cousins. I will always remember the days after he was reported missing until he was found. It is now 48 years later and I still think of him every memorial day. I know he would have been a great man had he lived.
  • I Remember

Even though I never knew Ed personally, he was the older brother of my classmate, Linda. The Sieben family lived down the street from us on Wellner Road in Naperville, IL at the time of his loss. I remember this photo being published in The Naperville Sun newspaper with his obituary all those years ago. I don't know why his name has stuck in my mind since then, but I doubt if I will ever forget it. I recall that it was a very sad time for our entire community to have lost such a fine young man in that terrible war.
  • Remembering An American Hero

Dear PFC Edward Michael Sieben, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

    Curt Carter
