  • COUSIN LARRY

MY DAD, TOMMY RAY SHEFFIELD, IS LARRY'S FIRST COUSIN. HIS FATHER WAS JAMES SHEFFIELD. THIS MAKES ME AND MY BROTHER, JR, HIS SECOND COUSINS. DAD'S ARMY ENLISTMENT ENDED JUST BEFORE HE WAS TO DEPLOY TO VIETNAM. DAD LIVED, LARRY GAVE ALL TO OUR COUNTRY AND FAMILY SAFETY. MY BROTHER RAY IS SURVIED BY TREY, THE THIRD, AND KRISTIE. NONE WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPEN IF HE WOULD HAVE WENT AND DID NOT SURVIED. THAT TUGGS AT MAY HEART, BUT I AM PROUD TO BE LARRY'S COUSIN.

For My Uncle I never Met. I so Wish I had the Chance to Meet You. You Sacrificed Your Life for Our Lives Here. You Died Shortly Before I was Born. You are in Heaven now with your Mom and most of your other Relatives now. I'm glad they can be with you. However, I'm keeping the last 2 Sheffields for now. You deserve every honor you receive and I'll get your picture here soon. I hope the Wall of Faces finds a way to help the rest of us know you better. Love, your neice Sheila

  • Remembering An American Hero

Posted on 9/20/13 - by Curt Carter
Dear SP4 Larry Gene Sheffield, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

    Curt Carter

The Wall of Faces

Brought to you by the organization that built The Wall, the Vietnam Veterans Virtual Memorial Wall is dedicated to honoring, remembering and sharing the legacies of all those who died in the Vietnam War. Here you can go beyond the names on The Wall to see the faces, share the stories and read the remembrances posted by friends, neighbors, classmates and family members.

All of these photos will be showcased in The Education Center at The Wall on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. To learn more about the effort to collect these photos and ensure their faces will never be forgotten, visit www.buildthecenter.org.
