April 3, 2001brbrTo the parents of the brave Marine, brgone off to serve and not again seen, brto the loving wife who waits no morebrfor a husband's return from a distant war, brto the precious child that he never knew,brI dedicate these words to all of you:brbrIt was a long time ago and lost in the past, brto a faraway land his young life was cast.brServing his country with honor and pride, bran officer and gentleman, it can't be denied.brA life full of promise, a bright future at hand.brAll await his return from that foreign land.brBut what might have been was never to be.brFor fate had another plan, you see.brHis life was cut short, no more future to face, brthe promise erased by death's early embrace.brHow sudden and final the end when it came.brFate is so cruel, but who is really to blame?brOver this query I've had much time to dwell, brbut in the years since, there's no answer to tell.brSo it is with his family these words I share, brthat they may know from one who was there.brbrKnow that he died in defense of other Marines, brthat his unselfish act is what heroism means.brAnd just know me as one who still sheds a tearbrfor this man who gave all and everything dear.brbr

As a fellow Buckeye, I say "THANK YOU"

As a Veteran, I say "JOB WELL DONE, MARINE"

As an American, "YOUR DEATH WAS NOT IN VAIN"

And as a Believer, "YOUR SPIRIT IS ALIVE--AND STRONG"

Again, thank you Captain, for your courageous and valiant service, years of faithfully contributing, and most holy sacrifice, given to this great country of ours!
