He has been listed on the USS Constellation, but cruise books never lie. He was on the USS Hornet as he is listed in Memoriam in this book and his squadron is in the book.
  • Los Angeles County Vietnam Veterans Memorial Highway

A portion of Sepulveda BoulevardState Highway Route 1 in El Segundo near Los Angeles International Airport has been dedicated to the residents of Los Angeles County who served in Vietnam. This section of highway is now designated the Los Angeles County Vietnam Veterans Memorial Highway. Adopted by the California State Legislature in 2000, the highway honors the more than 350,000 California veterans who served in the Vietnam War, including the 5,822 killed or missing in action. Los Angeles County has the largest number of Vietnam veterans in California and 1,857 of its residents were killed or missing in action during that war. This memorial corridor provides a fitting and proper way for the residents of Los Angeles County to express their gratitude and appreciation for the sacrifices these Vietnam veterans have made for their country.

Thank you, Dennis, for your service. If you don't hear from me in the future--look for me somewhere near you.

    We all think of you.

  • A Smile I Remember

Wonderful to have found your lovely smiling face on my computer this Sunday morning, 08-02-09, while exploring the HPHS Alumni site. I looked up "heros" and there you were Dennis (with notes to you from Dave Matson, a young man I dated and remember well too). You and Ed Dornan were high school chums and surfing buddies and made great surfboards in a small shop at the end of my street, Gentry St., before I married Ed, July 19, 1963. We were married 23 yrs. We have 2 sons, Hugh & Aaron. Ed's now with you in the Great Cosmos; he died suddenly, Dec. 19, 2005. I keep both of your smiling faces in my heart-mind. Thank you for your brave service and your friendship. Nice to see your beautiful smiling face again!
