    2016 Alaska Statutes:
    The Scott Glacier No. 1 bridge at mile 7.5 of the Copper River Highway is named the Michael Dean Banta Bridge.

    THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE AS A GRUNT WITH THE 1ST CAVALRY. THIS WAS THE UNIT OF A FRIEND'S TWIN. HE ALSO DIED IN PHUOC LONG. SAY HI TO MIKE IN HEAVEN. WATCH OVER AMERICA. IT STILL NEEDS YOUR GRACE. VETERANS' DAY IS APPROACHING AND- SO IT IS IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER AND HONOR ALL OF YOU. MAY THE SAINTS AND ANGELS GUIDE YOU. REST IN PEACE

    I went to school with his sister and Mike was always really nice to me. He was a good guy.
