  • Remembering An American Hero

Dear PFC Kevin Carroll Hanley, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

    With respect, Sir

    Curt Carter

    The Shadows Of Heroes

Most of my life I walked in the sunshine.
Now I walk in the shadows of Heroes.
Those heroes in my life are now gone
    yet their shadows still remain.
It is in their shadows I will walk.
Since they can no longer speak.
    I will be their voice.
Although they can no longer see,
    I will be their eyes.
While they can no longer cry,
    I will shed their tears.
    Since they are now defenseless,
    I will be their defender.
I will forever keep a close vigil over their memories.
I will protect their legacy as if my own.
I am honored to walk in the shadows of my heroes
all the while feeling the warmth of their presence.

  • On Your 63rd Birthday

Posted on 8/31/12 - by Larry

A solomn promise once made and forever kept was to never forget this friend and classmate. A special video was created for Kevin on youtube as part of that promise.

Kevin was one of two friends lost in that war. As I get older, the loss of these guys hurts more. The best was to express my love and dedication is to preserve their memory for the remainder of my life regardless of the pain I have to endure. It does not compair to the pain Kevin endured as he lay dying so far from his home. I miss you buddy. Through the grace of our God, until we meet once more in a place where there is no pain and no terror of war, jusat the peaceful silence of paradise. Happy 63rd birthday Kevin. Semoper Fi

Memories are all we have of you buddy. And although you left our world doing what yopu believed in, we never stop feeling the pain of your leaving. Your new memorial is done (www.chse1968.orgkch_index.html) and I know it will please you. As I created it, i know you were there in spirit making everything come together as it did. Your family loves it as well. Now we have a memorial that hopefully is worthy to bear your name. Rest in Peace my friend.
