Dear PVT James Lee Getter, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

    With respect, Sir

    Curt Carter

  • Do not stand at my grave and weep

Posted on 1/23/06 - by Bob Ross
Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

    Mary Frye – 1932

  • Thank You

Posted on 3/16/04 - by Ali Abbed nflstar86@hotmail.com
This is for a Gridley High School posting project. I go to school everyday same as my American youths, I also go to extracurricular activities and so does many American youths do after school. My fellow Americans and I wouldn’t be able to do this today if you wouldn’t have sacrificed yourself for our country. We just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of our heart.

  • NATIVE AMERICAN PRAYER

Posted on 2/26/04 - by Chris Spencer cws71354@bellsouth.net
It is said a man hasn't died as long as he is remembered. This prayer is a way for families, friends and fellow veterans to remember our fallen brothers and sisters. Do not stand at my grave and weep I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning hush, I am the swift, uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight, I am the stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there, I did not die.

The Wall of Faces

Brought to you by the organization that built The Wall, the Vietnam Veterans Virtual Memorial Wall is dedicated to honoring, remembering and sharing the legacies of all those who died in the Vietnam War. Here you can go beyond the names on The Wall to see the faces, share the stories and read the remembrances posted by friends, neighbors, classmates and family members.

All of these photos will be showcased in The Education Center at The Wall on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. To learn more about the effort to collect these photos and ensure their faces will never be forgotten, visit www.buildthecenter.org.
