"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends."

Roger Fessenden was a member of a great rifle company, Alpha Company, 1st Battalion 20th Infantry, 11th Light Infantry Brigade. The men of Alpha Company, his friends, will hold Roger's memory in The Wall of our hearts for all our lives.

I met you at Ft Polk in leadership school and we were together in training, then from Oakland to Hawaii. I remember the fun we had when we rented the VW and toured the island. We had a good two weeks on the ship to Nam and then they split us up. I saw you twice more out in the bush. I can still hear your laugh. I miss you buddy. Your friend, Tony

The Wall of Faces

Brought to you by the organization that built The Wall, the Vietnam Veterans Virtual Memorial Wall is dedicated to honoring, remembering and sharing the legacies of all those who died in the Vietnam War. Here you can go beyond the names on The Wall to see the faces, share the stories and read the remembrances posted by friends, neighbors, classmates and family members.

All of these photos will be showcased in The Education Center at The Wall on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. To learn more about the effort to collect these photos and ensure their faces will never be forgotten, visit
