IN MEMORY DAY CEREMONY TO HONOR 93 AMERICAN HEROES
Monday, Apr. 18, at 10 a.m. at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial
 
What: The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund’s In Memory Day Ceremony will honor 93 individuals who died as a result of the Vietnam War, but who do not meet the Department of Defense guidelines for inclusion on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. Who: Nearly 700 family members, friends and veterans are expected to attend this year’s ceremony. Family members will read aloud the names of their loved ones being honored and will place tributes at the panel of The Wall that corresponds most closely to the honorees’ dates of service. Throughout the ceremony, volunteers and friends will read the names of the 1,971 past honorees.

• Frank Campanaro, keynote speaker. His father is 2011 Honoree Frank Paul
  Campanaro Sr.
• Richard C. Schneider, executive director for government affairs, Non
  Commissioned Officers Association of the USA.
• Jeff Dawley, son of 2010 Honoree John Ernest Dawley Jr.
 Edith Owen Wallace, wife of 1996 Honoree Robert E. Owen, pledge of allegiance.
• Jan C. Scruggs, master of ceremonies.
• Jonathan Stilley, son of 2009 Honoree Michael Ronald Ford, will sing the national
  anthem.
   
When: Monday, April 18 at 10 a.m.
   
Where: The Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Constitution Ave. and 21st St. NW, Washington, D.C.  Parking along Constitution Ave. is  permitted after 9:30 a.m.
   
Sponsors: The Non Commissioned Officers Association of the USA
  TV Worldwide will film the ceremony.

Established in 1979, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund is dedicated to preserving the legacy of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., promoting healing and educating about the impact of the Vietnam War.  Authorized by Congress, its most recent initiative is building The Education Center at The Wall, an underground facility near the Memorial that is designed to add faces to all the names on The Wall and tell their stories.  Other Memorial Fund initiatives include educational programs for students and teachers, a traveling Wall replica that honors our nation's veterans and a humanitarian and mine-action program in Vietnam.
