CHARITY POKER TOURNAMENT TO BENEFIT THE EDUCATION CENTER AT THE WALL
Washington, D.C. – The Education Center at The Wall Celebrity-Charity Texas Hold 'Em Poker Tournament, hosted by Vince Van Patten of the World Poker Tour, will take place in San Antonio, Texas on April 15. A portion of the proceeds will benefit VVMF's campaign to build the Education Center, reported Jan C. Scruggs, founder and president of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (VVMF), which is leading the campaign to build the Center.
The tournament is open to the public and includes several options that will fit easily into any budget:
• Dinner and Casino Night includes dinner, a silent auction and a fun-filled evening of gaming.
• Dinner and the Texas Hold 'Em Poker Tournament puts participants in the competition.
• Or individuals can opt to attend the poker tournament only as spectators.
This exciting charity poker tournament is a collaborative effort between SAF Studios Inc. and the National Concierge Association (NCA). Taking place in the Exposition Hall at the Freemen Coliseum in San Antonio, the event was planned to honor and support the memories of our Vietnam veterans. Sponsors of the charity poker tournament include SAF Studios, NCA, HOLT CAT, Lone Stars Celebrity Services and H.L. Zumwalt Construction Inc. Special thanks go to Peter M. and Julianna Hawn Holt, Henry L. and Bonnie Zumwalt and the San Antonio Area Tourism Council.
The tournament’s host, Vince Van Patten, is well known on the poker tournament circuit, having participated in the World Series of Poker three times and hosted numerous poker and sporting events. He has been playing poker since he was 13.
The Education Center at The Wall is a learning center being built in the nation’s capital near the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. It was conceived as a way to put faces to the thousands of names on The Wall, to educate current and future generations about these honorable men and women who gave everything for their country and to tell their stories. Other exhibits will showcase some of the 150,000 items left at The Wall in tribute, provide a timeline of events for the Vietnam War and the building of The Wall, examine the service and sacrifice of special groups of people, and celebrate the values embodied by all of America’s service members.

About VVMF and the Education Center
Established in 1979, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund is dedicated to preserving the legacy of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., promoting healing and educating about the impact of the Vietnam War. Authorized by Congress, its most recent initiative is building the Education Center at The Wall, an underground facility near the Memorial that is designed to add faces to all the names on The Wall and tell their stories. Other Memorial Fund initiatives include educational programs for students and teachers, a traveling Wall replica that honors our nation's veterans and a humanitarian and mine-action program in Vietnam.
