Vietnam Veterans Memorial
Preservation and Restoration Project
Sponsored by the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund
in Cooperation with the National Park Service
The Vietnam Veterans Memorial is undergoing a major renovation project. Scheduled work includes replacing the current lighting system and improvements to the pavement and walkway surfaces. Replacement of The Wall's 19-year-old lighting system began June 7 and is expected to last through October. During renovation, each side of The Wall will be closed for up to 3 months at a time. Visitors will have no access to the side of The Wall being worked on and its panels will be covered to protect them from accidental damage. The side not under repair will be accessible via temporary walkways.
